That being said, let’s talk a little about me. Who am I, and why should you trust anything I say about online writing?
My name is Martin Rubai Macharia, commonly known in the online writing world as Martin R. I am a procurement graduate and a CPA (1).
And like many Kenyan youths, I am battling unemployment.
However, like most hardworking youths in my country, I have had to look for other sources of income besides employment.
While some of my peers ventured into small businesses, others into bodaboda, and others into mitumba, I chose to try freelancing as an online writer.

You’re very WRONG. That’s the kind of mentality that can keep you broke for life.
90% of these jobs can be done perfectly by a high-school dropout sitting on a toilet seat provided they have internet access.
The only problem is that the people with the information don’t want to share it.
So, if you look at the screenshot above and you feel that making 90% of $300 per week is good enough for you, then you need these secrets urgently.
One of my good friends recently asked me, “Why don’t you just do training classes like everyone else?”
And this was my answer. First of all, I firmly believe that
“The people who know how to do something, do it; those who don’t know how to do something, teach.”
That is why you’ll find that most online writing training classes are insanely expensive, some even KES 5,000 and above. That’s more than an average Kenyan makes in a day or even a week for some.
On the other hand, training is like teaching a class; it takes time. In fact, most of these training classes take from a few days to weeks.

If you’re an academic writer, the normal pay rate is KES 250 per page.
Now, just do 2 pages only in a day. For me I can do this in one hour, but let’s assume you’re slow, which is okay for any beginner.
2 Pages x KES 250 (Per page) = KES 500
If you’re an article writer, here’s how you can make the same amount in one day.
Article writers are usually paid per word. The starting rate can be 85 cents per word. Let’s also assume that it will take you one day to do a 600-word article as a beginner.
600 words x KES 0.85 (Per word) = KES 510
